At the "Taido Dojo of Copenhagen" intensive training is regarded the primary and most important issue. Outside traininghours the dojo-members gather for social events at regular intervals. The highlights of social events are the Christmas dinner and the summer party. The dojo often arranges participation in minor trainingcamps in Sweden and Finland. Large international tournaments are always combined with international trainingcamps. To these events seasoned competitors travel and train side by side with beginners. Taido is for people of all ages. At present the age-spread in the "Taido Dojo of Copenhagen" is from 6 til 50 years of age. If you are interrested in starting Taido you are welcome to show up at beginner's classes. You are also welcome to visit the more advanced classes to see what Taido looks like when performed by students who have been training for some time. You are welcome to participate in training free of charge for a couple of times in order to find out if you want to start learning Taido. Normally we prefer that people decide whether they want to become members before the beginning of the following month. During the first period of training a new member can easily train in shorts and a T-shirt or light loose-fitting clothes. The only thing necessary is a pair of slippers for walking from the wardrobe to the training area. When you pass your first ranking-test, you are required to obtain a proper trainingsuit, a "Gi". At first you can use an ordinary Karate- or Judo-Gi. A genuine Taido-Gi is avaible only through the dojo. The dojo orders a number of Taido-Gis from Japan at regular intervals. The price of a genuine JapaneseTaido-Gi is around 1200 Dkr.- The member fee is 200,- Dkr. a month if you are under 25 years old. If your are 25 years old or older, the member fee is 250,- Dkr. When you join the Dojo you pay a registration fee of 50,- Dkr. You can read more about the history of Taido in Denmark on the "Danish Taido Association" website: www.taido.dk/dta/. |
